Bilingual Arabic Respite: Crisis & Planned (Service Provider)- Brooklyn, NY

The Respite Care Worker is responsible for providing temporary care to a Waiver child in order to provide a parent / caregiver with a needed break so as to ease the stress at home and improve family harmony.

FLSA : Non-Exempt

Essential Functions :

• Work with children who have Serious Emotional Disturbance (S.E.D.) in
• community and home environments.
• Supervises and engages the child in recreational activities which support the
• child’s constructive interests and abilities.
• Works in collaboration with the provider and parents to ensure that the child’s needs are met when engaged in respite care activities.
• Document services provided.
• Maintain open communication with child and family related to planned activities,
• observed behavior, etc.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities : None

Minimum Qualifications :

• High School Diploma or equivalency.
• 1 year of experience working or volunteering with children with special needs and their families.
• Ability to work amongst diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
• Good written, verbal, and listening skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and have some knowledge with using Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Strong time management skills.
• Bilingual in one or more of the following : Spanish, Bengali, Urdu and others, may be required depending on client needs
