The Opportunity

Manulife Investment Management Timberland and Agriculture ( MIMTA ) manages approximately US$15 billion AUM in global timberland and agriculture.

MIMTA creates value through the sustainable management of natural resource investments. Through the five pillars of its Sustainability and Responsible Investing platform (Ecosystem Resiliency, Watershed Protection, Climate Stability, People Empowerment, and Community Prosperity), the group integrates ESG factors throughout all aspects of the investment decision-making and property management process.

MIMTA manages 100% of our timberland investments and 100% of US agriculture investments to third-party sustainability standards.

Reporting to the Director of the Content Specialist team, the Timberland and Agriculture Product Associate will be responsible for supporting the growth of a commingled timberland and farmland product and related feeder vehicles.

The Product Associate is expected to contribute to all product specific and overall strategy marketing materials and ensure accuracy for internal and external audiences.

This includes refining existing processes to collaborate closely with various teams within the Timberland and Agriculture organization to capture, validate, and report information.

The variety of work and exposure to the various functional teams will enable the Associate to gain insight to all areas of the Timberland and Agriculture business from a strategic level to a detailed investment level.

The Associate will be joining the business at a critical juncture of rapid growth.

Responsibilities

Serve as a key resource for strategy / product specific informationWork closely with the Director of the Content Specialist, and other functional areas to act as a gatekeeper for Timberland and Agriculture data and materials.

Develop a detailed understanding of the product, asset classes, including our sustainability practices and initiatives, and our competitive advantages.

Monitor the performance of products; create and maintain competitive product grid for all product lines, including files of prospectuses and other materials.

Contribute to marketing materials relevant to fundraisingCreate presentations and other materials used in meetings and help identify and lead the timing for the creation of new collateral.

Help coordinate, update and distribute collateral internally and externally, ensuring alignment and consistency of messaging across multiple products and pieces of content.

Handle project plans to ensure timely completion of initiatives.

Support various aspects of the Timberland and Agriculture Business Development team’s prospect and investor relations efforts.

Provide specialist content including RFPs, questionnaires, databases, and any other prospect or client inquiries. Lead and update these responses in Q&A repository.

Participate in the updating of marketing materials, including coordination with reporting and valuation teams on updating track record and other information.

Assist with the organization and preparation for events including the annual meeting, conferences, tours, and other events the team may plan from time to time.

Participate and assist with biannual fund closings and client onboarding.

  • Support the management of prospect and client data rooms, tracking information in Salesforce, coordinating meetings and calls, and requests with members of the investment, legal, compliance and accounting teams.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc requests relating to client service, marketing, record keeping, compliance, and other such areas that may arise over time.
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with product development, portfolio management, operations, client service, legal and compliance teams and marketing among others, as well as external vendors to ensure work is completed smoothly and to the highest standards.
  • Enhance operational processes to improve efficiency in facilitating responses and compliance approvals for external materials.

What are we looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Preferably in business, finance, timberland or agricultural, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and genuine interest in real assets, timberland or agriculture and investment management.
  • A firm grasp of investment strategy and financial analysis is highly desirable.
  • 2-4 years of meaningful work experience, with preference for direct client or prospect service and marketing support responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Solid Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills are required. Experience with Salesforce and Qvidian experience is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to lead multiple priorities from multiple partners and balancing between day-to-day responsibilities and ad-hoc requests with short turnarounds.
  • Experience engaging in the RFP questionnaire response process. Comfortable editing written pieces for readability, style and grammar.
  • Proactive and takes initiative; ability to learn quickly and identify and implement enhancements to existing processes.
